The nvidia site doesn't have a very user-friendly way of finding the appropriate driver so I used to google to see if I could find the appropriate driver and all of the links that searching "Nvidia G72 [GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS] driver xp" turns up require you to either download a program (driverMax) or give out your email address. I tried DriverMax along with a few other programs when I started troubleshooting this issue and I was dissatisfied with their performance. I don't really want to clutter up my computer with a whole bunch of ****** software again, so I was wondering if you could tell me exactly what branches to select in the driver select page on NVIDIA. Thanks again for your help, and my apologies if this request could be circumvented through a little more diligent research on Google, but I already tried a few searches to attempt to identify what product branches my driver would fall under.

As an example of what I'm confused about: My driver would most logically be of either a G, G7, G72, 7300 series, 7300 SE, 7200, 7200 GS, for the first branch of selections, but the only ones that are offered are the 600 series down to 100 series, then 9 through 5 series. If I select the 7 series (the only one that fits the logic I used) there's only an offering of Operating System selection underneath, but under the default 600 series there is another tree where more models are branched underneath so the driver would be listed as Nvidia 600 Series GeForce Gtx 690. I doubt that my driver is the only 'G7' model, so I have logically concluded that the driver downloadable under G7 is NOT the appropriate one. Again, I appreciate all of your help and suggestions, but so far I haven't really resolved any of my issues.

Hey Malnutrition. I ended up downloading the driver from your third link, which was actually the graphics driver, and now my DVDs play in WMP without any issue, so thanks a million. I don't think my ethernet controller is having any problems, so I don't think I'm going to bother trying to resolve that, but thanks again for the solution and the attempt on the latter. The only issue I'm still having is my headphone slot not working and being forced to use a ****** external sound card. Any troubleshooting tips on that issue would be greatly appreciated (perhaps running diagnostics without the external sound card in to see if it finds any driver issues? Device manager has the yellow question mark under Other Devices for Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus).
