Default [FIXED] - Unable to Connect to the Internet

Ok guys I'm having a problem with my Internet Connection, it's kinda hard to explain so bare with me..

Basically what happens is this.. I turn on my PC and once I get on, I go onto Mozilla Firefox. My start page shows up, and then usually the first site I go to after that shows up (like for example, Yahoo.com). After that though, I can't get on any websites. If I try to go to Google after that, the bar on the bottom of the Firefox window, on the lower left hand size it will say "looking for www.google.com", and after about 15 seconds something will pop up saying "www.google.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again"

It goes on like that for a while, no matter what site I try it won't work. Eventually a few sites will start working, but then when I try to get onto new sites, they won't work. I just keep getting the "looking up.." and then nothing. If I'm doing it on Internet Explorer, I just get the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" screen.

If I click repair on my wireless connection icon, it takes me right back to the beginning where none of the sites are working.

My wireless adapter is a D-Link DWL-122, I'm using Windows XP SP1. Do I maybe need to update my adapter? From what I'm reading on the D-Link website, it has been discontinued.

I hope people understand what I'm trying to explain here, it's kind of complicated. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi MJL86,

Welcome to PCHF. I know how frustrating your problem can be, believe me we've all been there. You have a lot of great people who are going to help you solve your problem.

So do you mind if we start out with a couple of basic questions? First, is this something that has been going on for a while, or did it just start?

What kinds of anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewalls are you running if any?

What diagnostic tools have you run so far?

It does sound like you have been infected, can you go directly to this site and try to download the program, ewido, it is a wonderful diagnostic, and can help us determine what is wrong.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you very much for replying

It's been happening for quite a while, but it was never very bad so I didn't do anything about it. It's gotten worse recently though.

What kinds of anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewalls are you running if any?
The Anti-Virus I'm using is Avast, my Anti-Spyware programs are CWShredder, HiJackTHIS, Spybot and Ad Aware SE. My firewall is just the basic Windows XP firewall (I have ZoneAlarm on my computer but am not currently running it)

What diagnostic tools have you run so far?
I'm not exactly sure what Diagnostic Tools are, so I don't think I've ever run any. But I did download the ewido program you linked, should I run a scan with it?

When you say I might be infected, do you mean infected by a virus?

BTW, I just opened the program and it shows me that Infected Objects has been Found, it says.

File: wer8274.dll
Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32
Infection: Spyware.SBSoft

I cleaned that, the next one says..

File: SYSTEM_32.EXE
Path: C:\WINDOWS
Infection: Trojan.Sagic.b

I cleaned that and got..

File: Tapi32init.exe
Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32
File: Trojan.Sagic.b

Cleaned that too... holy ****, my computer is fricked up.

:-) Great, Merlin is probably already looking at this, give me a couple of minutes and I will check it out in case he's working on something else.

Have faith, it won't be too painful :-D
