If you are using Linksys software then disable Windows Wireless Zero Config as that may be interfering with the wireless connection.
To do that click Start > Run and type in msconfig Go to the Services tab Click the Name column Scroll down to Windows Wireless Zero Configuration and untick the box Click Apply > OK and restart |

Hi, just one stupid question, I setup the router with the linksys software which came with it, and configured the router. That means I don't use the Windows Wireless Zero Config correct?
thanks, |

Providing the linksys software is running (probably in the taskbar) and it says connected, then yes.

A simple trick that often works is to get a small portable radio and tune it off a channel so there is no noise then walk around between the router and pc if there is any interference you will here it and maybe able to track the source.
try it a few times and when its not working. It could be something like a printer or a kettle just putting out noise netstumbler also show you noise. I have had them were a laser printer warming up will do it or someone making a brew |

Just had a thought.
Had a similar problem about a year ago. Started after installing a few programs and windows updates. Managed to track it down to tcpipv6 being incompatible with the driver for my wifi dongle. So whenever I used anything that used v6 my internet would slow down and freeze. Took the dongle company (Edimax) 3 months to get an updated driver out. So even if your sure your up-to-date check your wifi's homepage for an updated driver. |
