on some laptops there is a fn + f? that will turn on and off the wifi , along the f1 - f12 keys do you have a key which would be similar to an antenna type symbol do you have a key which may resemble that (unusual as you have a slide button on the side which turns it on and off) but please do check

f2 has what looks like a car antenna on it

ahh haaa well hold down the fn button and press that at the same time and see if you get a notification up or a light come on ,on the laptop somewhere if you do then thats it it should then be enabled
