could you go here Gateway Support Drivers & Downloads
and get the hotbutton driver and install , i believe this is what enables the wifi ,i.e. the wifi switch on the side

not sure if it was ever connected to wireless router.cannot connect to the internet to access the gateway drivers.is there any other way to figure it out?

do you have a usb flash drive/pen drive that you can download them to and transfer them over to the laptop ,that would be the simplest way
or you said it works ok with an ethernet cable just plug that in and download them

do not have access to an ethernet line right now.heard about a Fn+F5 key.would this reset the wifi?
