Question Help with picking up HughesNet Signal?

Hi,
My mother-in-law has HughesNet internet. We live about 200ft. from her. She told me that I can share her internet signal. I bought a Belkin wireless N router and connected to her computer,it made her HughesNet internet wireless. My desktop(Vista)is not equipped to pick up wireless signals,so I bought a Belkin wireless N USB adapter for my computer. It tells me that i am connected to the router by it wont connect to the internet. I get one bar on the adapter. Someone told me that I need to get a Desktop card(PCI Card). I also brought my father-in-law's laptop computer to my house and it connected to the HughesNet internet from their house. That laptop is equipped with a Broadcom 802.11b/g network card. What do I need to make my desktop connect to that signal like that laptop did?

Hi and welcome to the site

If you only have one bar then you are going to struggle to get a useable signal. You're going to need to raise the signal quality, so either moving it closer or using an adapter with an aerial would be a great start.
