I never turn down additional troubleshooting, amount Even if it sounds repetitious.

I would think that what have done would have tested it sufficiently, but the additional test on the wireless would prove conclusively.

I'll review the entire thread and get back with you sometime tonight. I'm in Central timezone, btw.

Great! Thanks!

Well, I tried disabling the firewall for just the wireless connection. No help. It still hung on startup this morning.

While I was adjusting the firewall settings, I noticed that there was an option ("Security Logging") for keeping a log for troubleshooting purposes. I turned that on to see what would happen.

I'm looking at the log right now and it has several hundred lines with times between 7:54 AM and 7:59 AM (when the computer was starting up). The lines all start with headers like "DROP UDP" "OPEN UDP" "OPEN TCP" "CLOSE TCP" etc. Each line also has what looks (to my uneducated eye) to be several ip address numbers. Would it be helpful if I posted the contents of the log?

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking.

Does it hang?

Does it work? (sometimes Safe mode won't see the wireless drivers)

OK. I tried booting in Safe Mode with Networking. The bad news is that it still hung. The good news (or, perhaps, neutral news) is that Safe Mode did still see the wireless drivers and wireless networking did work.

Arrrgh.

There's one error code that has not been addressed fully and it is the error code 1003..Have you done a memory test?

I just ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic (by booting with a CD I made). I let the test run through three passes. No errors were found.
