Thanks for your continued help!
You could use the "alternate IP configuration" tab to set to DHCP addressing, then give the default setting a static address within your range. Setting a static IP address for you home use won't cause any issues AFAIK.

But this would be an issue elsewhere (if I wasn't at home), correct? I'd prefer to find a more universal solution since I use the computer most at school. Hmm...

Which is from your first post

Which means the interupts from the wireless hardware/software are causing contention.

So my first thought is can you borrow a wireless USB and see if that works?

I'll ask around, but it might take me a while to find one. (I wonder if I could buy and return one easily at Staples...!) On the other hand, wouldn't a USB wireless device require it's own driver/software? I guess I don't understand how this would/could effectively isolate the issue.

Are there software alternatives that I could try besides WZC and the Dell utility? Some sort of third party network manager?

I don't know if this is any help, but I never have these issues when I'm using a wired connection. In other words, if I disable the wireless connection and use an ethernet cable, I don't experience any boot delays. (Does this make a difference?)

Which in essence is what you've said already. So, as per my last post, what we need to do is to determine what part of your wireless doesn't work. By borrowing another wireless USB (& software) and seeing if it works that helps us narrow the problem.

If you can't get one, say so and we'll try something else.

Okay - I might have missed it in an earlier post but can others with their laptops connect to your router effortlessly?

We clearly need to eliminate the router as the source of the problem.

Anyway reset the router to factory defaults. Re-program it - see what happens.
--------------------------

Get the latest drivers for your wireless adaptor. Save the file to a seperate folder.

In device manager uninstall the network adaptor.

Reboot.

When the PC finds the uninstalled device can you point it at the latest downloaded drivers?
