Endless 'Acquiring Network Address'

Hey all!
So just today, my wireless internet connection on my Dell refuses to connect. Everything was fine before today. I rebooted the machine several times, with no success. I've tried repairing the wireless network connection, and that fails to work as well. It always gets stuck at the place where it acquires the network address. Or, it takes forever getting the network address, and then it has limited or no connectivity because it can't assign a network address to the computer or something.

Here's my ipcongif /all~

WINS Proxy Enabled: No

Ethernet Adapter Wireless Conn.
Descr: Dell Wireless 1490 Dual Band WLAN

Physical Address: 00-1D-D9-38-41-2A

Autoconfig: yes
IP: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
DHCP Server: 255.255.255.255

It'd be great if anyone could help...I'm desperate. >.>

and

to PCHF have you tried rebooting your router? it looks like it's not giving the PC an IP address

Thanks for responding!

Just rebooted....it still says the IP is 0.0.0.0.....

On a side note: There's four laptops and one desktop in this house, and all are currently connected to our wireless connection except for this one. This computer just won't go past the network address part.

Try this for me go to run and type cmd and click ok a black window will apear in there type "ipconfig /renew" with out the " did it get an ip address? Also this PC is it connect wireless and have a wireless card or wired? Are the PC's XP?

It's connected to wireless. No card, or wire. All PC's are Vista except this one, which is XP.

When I did the ipconfig /renew, nothing popped up. I tried it several times....when it showed my connection was disabled, it said media disconnected. When I attempted to connect and it was trying to get the address, nothing popped up at all.

An IP address of 0.0.0.0 with a DHCP server of 255.255.255.255 means that something is definitely wrong. A media disconnected state should have no IP or DHCP server.

Try applying the Winsock fix, which you can get from here:
WinSock XP Fix Freeware download and review - fix XP internet connectivity from SnapFiles

Re-boot the machine after you apply the fix, and try to connect.
