Default Wireless Really Slow & Cutting Out

Okay, I have a NETGEAR Wireless Router in my living room, the internet works perfectly when I have an ethernet cable connecting me directly to the router, but when I go to my room and try to connect wirelessly, I suffer problems.

I still have a connection, it sometimes works okay, sometimes is REALLY slow like it is now, and sometimes just doesn't connect for about 2 hours then works again, its really ******* me off.

My room is only a few meters away, and it should work! I have an xbox 360 that connects from my room perfectly with its wireless adapter, and my phone even connects perfectly to my router too, and is fast!

So why is my laptop and all the other laptops wireless connection to this blimming router SO SLOW? (slow most of the time, doesn't work the rest of the time)

Please ask your questions about anything I really need this solved!

Delete and recreate your wireless connection thru your laptop. Make sure its set DHCP. Your router, I hope has the default settings. If you know how to get into it, verify it had DCHP setup and has enough IP's to issue, unless its been edited, you should be fine with it.
Power cycle everything. disconnect every device but your laptop.
When you say "slow" how is that judged? pulling up web pages i assume.
Check signal strength and connection speed.

Finally, you can delete and readd the wireless connection and software for the laptop.
good luck

Hi bdogan1 - Welcome to PCHF!!!

Firstly a few questions - what model Netgear do you have? It should be on a sticker underneath it. If you could also give me version number too that would good. E.G WPN824v3

What OS are the laptops running and also what make and model are the wireless adapters in them?

Are you using the wireless adapters connection manager or the windows connection manager?

I'd normally assume a faulty wireless adapter but as it happens to all laptops that try to connect that can't be the case and it would happen everywhere you take your laptop.
