I think (apart from the wireless device itself, which was working before the install), there must still be a driver issue. Which drivers did you use, from CD that came with Plexus dongle? Just to clarify also, you said nothing happens when you press Connect after selecting the network from the wireless connection screen. Can you confirm... absolutely nothing? Does the button grey out for a short time? Any information on what happens when you press Connect, no matter how insignificant it may seem will be more helpful than you might think.

Here's another screenshot, I went to the XP section on the dongles install disc but all I could find was read only files (the bit on WinXP2K box). After that I went to the Setup part of the disc and used that (as seen in WA-T1). When I use Windows to search for a wireless network it can't find anything, yet when I use the dongles software it finds me my Linksys network and someone elses (as seen in card config utility).

Oh that's better, I thought you only had a status utility. What happens when you connect using this software (on auto)? It's also showing security enabled on your router, so you'll need these details in order to connect.

Using the software does nothing, it just says I don't have a connection. The security on the router's one of those key things (sorry for the lack of technical terms). I have another dongle which I tried to use, it's a Netgear WG111v2, I downloaded and installed the drivers for it and then tried to use it on this PC, it found my network, I tried to connect, entered my security key and then had a message saying something along the lines of: 'Connecting to the "linksys" network'. After about 5 minutes of waiting it just went back to the Windows box showing what networks are in range and asking me if I wanted to connect to the Linksys network.

WEP Key, you still have security enabled? sorry Sat, I assumed earlier you had disabled any security on the router in case this was causing you problems? (ref post #31).

Hi MM,
I did see your mention on disabling my security but I'm not to keen on the idea, I did that once before and knocked the other 2 computers off the network

What are the chances of it being my WEP key causing the problems?

PS. Thanks for the technical term

I'm not so worried about the WEP key itself, as when you connect, it should be asking for this in any case. But there are other security settings such as an Access Control List. I think off the top of my head (don't have a Linksys around at the moment), it comes under the "Access Restrictions" tab. If configured, it may only give access to PC's listed here. Also check for MAC Filtering in one of the security tabs.
