Default Wireless Connection says "shared"

Hi,

We have 3 laptops and a PC running XP all linked to a Netgear wireless router. Everything has been fine for over a year but recently on this one laptop, when I go to network conections, my wireless connection says "connected, Shared". I'm not sharing my connection, I don't want to share my connection and ICS and windows firewall are both OFF. I'm confused! Also I'm right next to the Access Point but the connection speed keeps changing to 36mbps, 48mbps as well as 1mbps and every now and then the correct 54mbps!

Any ideas?

Thanks JB,

I've just sorted it out! I think in the past I must have set up that wireless connection as shared, then more recently stopped and disabled the Windows firewall/ICS service in services.msc BEFORE stopping the actual sharing process. I re-enabled that service, reset the windows firewall to defaults, then turned the windows firewall off again then stopped the ICS service again! Pheew! Now I'm definitely back to 54mbps potential and just "connected" in network connections instead of "connected, shared". I can't believe how long it took to figure out a silly thing like that. There's nothing anywhere on the web for that specific issue! Until now that is! I hope this helps someone else out!

Do you guys change it to "answered" or do I?! I'll have a quick look now to see if I can, if not, i'll B back!
