Hi malcomhfc - Welcome to PCHF!!

Can you please provide a little more information to assist us in helping you.

What operating system does your computer have? XP, Vista, etc

Have you tried manually setting the ip address for the new wireless adapter? If your not sure how to do this - I will give you instructions once i know what operating system you have.

First make sure you don't have the new USB Wireless Adapter connected. Go into Device Manager > expand Network Adapters. Right click your old wireless > select Properties > on the Driver tab click Uninstall to uninstall the driver > Click OK. After you have uninstalled the driver right click the adapter and select Disable.

Now try using your USB adapter. Please post back if it still doesn't work.
