Default Only connecting to local network

Hi, can anyone please help, my Husband is in Africa with his laptop and is in accomodation with a wireless network, however when he tries to connect, all he is able to do is connect to a local network, and not the internet. He is not very computer literate and there is nobody there to help him so I am trying my best so would really appreciate some help! There are people there with laptops who are able to connect wirelessly. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hey Rebecca,

Could be a little difficult being the middle man (or woman), as it could be a number of issues. The first thing we should do is find out his current IP configuration. To do this:

- Go to Start, Run, and type in cmd
- From the black command window, type in ipconfig /all

Get him to read the configuration back to you which will include the ip address, default gateway etc.
