Default d-link wireless router problems

Hello everyone in help me land. I am using a D-link WBR-2310 wireless router, my connection is cable internet using a "Webstar" modem. I am connected from cable to the webstar, and from the Webstar to the D-link (WAN) then from Lan1 to my PC (XP). As soon as the D-link is inserted into the equation I have no internet connection on the PC or my laptop, when the router is removed the PC can connect. The wireless router is showing; solid green(power) flashing green(internet) solid green (network).

Thanks in advance everyone,
Swizzleskin

Hey Swizz,

Has this router worked previously, or is this a new install?

It was previously working, with intermittent situations where I would have to come and power cycle the router and the cable modem. In that situation all 4 LAN ports were solid green, however I was only connected to one LAN port (#1).

If the internet light it flashing then it is trying to find an internet connection. Double check the connection between the router and the modem.

If the internet light is intermittently flashing without any pattern, then an internet connection is present and it's more likely to be the settings on your PC that is not correctly configured.

Isn't the WBR-2310 supposed to be a broadband router?

I see that it identifies the "broadband modem" connection port as the WAN. There appears to be no pattern to the flashing green (other than constant).

OK Swiz, sounds like network settings.

Can you do the following:
- Go to Start, Run and type in cmd
- From the command window, type in ipconfig /all
- Right click on the title of the command window, and go to Edit followed by Select All
- Finally, right click again and go to Edit followed by Copy.

Paste the results back here.
