Default [Answered] linksys G vs N

I need to get a new router...my WRT54G is to the point I have to keep resetting it..it is five year old so have my moneys worth..

I have it hooked to two HP laptops ( different rooms) running Vista HP and on Time Warner
Cable Road Runner Turbo (54 Mbps)

I have been told that I would only need the "N" upgrade if I needed the extra distance ( I don't)...and that the "N" would not make my system any faster...So is there any reason to
go to the "N" router...and If I do go to the "N" router do I have to get new cards fo the two laptops???

Any advice would be appreciated...

Hefs

Hi hefs,

If you buy an wireless N router, this will still support the old wireless cards you'd already have.
N is - just as you said - basically for extra distance.

If there's no cost difference, get an N for poops and laughter. If there is - get the cheaper one

Thanks, I guess I will just go with the "G" forty bucks difference...
