Default McAfee Uninstalled and then browser not working

I uninstalled McAfee and installed Shield on my laptop, which I operate through Sky broadband wireless network on a Netgear router. My main PC still works ok through the same. But since these actions, although I have a Network Connection (speed 54.0 Mps; strength : excellent; status: connected) my browser will not connect. I have ensured firewall access and tried RegCure to correct faults. I have tried a different browser, with the same lack of success. I have concluded that in error a window xp file was deleted, but am unsure how to rectify? Any advice gratefully received.

Default Re: McAfee Uninstalled and then browser not working

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

As you uninstalled Macafee,well done.

Have you tried right click on the network adaptor and click repair?

Have you installed latest drivers for network adaptors and netgear?

Open an Internet Explorer browser and type the router IP address which would be either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
  • The Login window will prompt for the router configuration username and password.
  • The default username is “admin” and the default password is “password”
Click Setup Wizard on the top left corner, Select Yes for the Setup Wizard to detect the type of internet connection and click Next.

The Setup Wizard will detect the type of Internet connection. DSL connections which require a login to connect to the internet will be detected as PPPoE. Click Next

Configure your router with the username and password provided by your ISP and click Apply.

The router will now save these settings. When complete, you can verify whether you are connected to the internet from the Router Status > Maintenance menu.

Verify you have a valid IP address (not-blank / 0.0.0.0) on the Internet Port assigned by your ISP

No Internet Access Through the Router

Forgotten or Lost Router Password
