Default Connecting but no internet.

I seem to be having a problem where i connect to my wireless network but i don't get any internet access across the network. When it happens the speed drops to about 1-11 Mbps whereas it is usually 54 Mbps. Signal strength seems to stay constant at very good to excellent.
This only happens on my laptop and not my computer or phone.

Anyone had any similar issues? Anyone know what's up?

Hi there Robert and welcome to PC Help Forum.
When it happens the speed drops to about 1-11 Mbps
When what happens? Is this when you connect the laptop to the wireless router?

Let's go for the obvious first;

1) Have you updated your network drivers on the laptop?
2) Are the network settings on the laptop exactly the same as the PC and phone?
3) What encryption are you using on the router?
4) Have you connected the laptop directly to the router to see if the problem persists?

1) I updated the drivers today, slightly better but not brilliant - probably a coincidence!
2) The network settings are the same as the PC, i don't know about my brothers laptop (It still happens when he isn't around) and i don't think i can check them on my phone.
3) The encryption is WPA2
4) Yes, and it still persists.

Other things i have tried:
1) Disabling the firewall on my Laptop and on my router.
2) Several anti virus checks, i am pretty confident it is clean of anything malicious.

I am leaning toward thinking the Wireless card might be damaged or just worn out, i have just pulled it out and put it back in which is seeming to help a little bit *Touch wood*

Edit: I sometimes get a message saying "IP address conflict on network" which has occurred on my brothers laptop too, I just ignore it, it sorts its self out!

If the problem still persists whilst using the hard wire connection then I don't believe this to be the case;

Interesting...are you using DHCP on the router?

Have you also considered updating the firmware on the router? Not neccessarily related but a good thing to do nevertheless.

Are you using XP Service Pack 2?
