Default wireless spontaneous disconnections

Hi, I am hoping there is a pc guru out there that can help. My daughter's laptop uses our router when she's home from college. It connects without any problem but after 3 minutes is disconnects. She is able to reconnect but then after 3 minutes it disconnects again. I would think that it was something with our router but she says it happens when she's at school too. I checked the device manager, uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem persists. Is there anything else I could try?
thanks,
R

Default Re: wireless spontaneous disconnections

It could be that "Enable IEEE 801.1x authentication for this network" is selected in the networking section of the pc.

To fix this do the following:

Click Start > Control Panel > Network Connections

Right click the Wireless Network Connection > Select Properties
Click Wireless Networks Tab > Under preferred networks select the wireless network > click Properties.

Choose the authentication tab > Make sure there is no tick in "Enable IEEE 801.1x authentication for this network" > Click OK twice.

Post back if this does not help.
