Hello serpoint, welcome to PCHF.

Can you explain more about what is actually happening when you try to connect to your router? And also, what router do you have?

Thanks a lot for your quickly reply!
well, with router you mean my notebook? Sorry, but I'm not so expert in this! Anyway...I have an Amilo M 1420 fujitsu-siemens and I have a problem with the signal: on the other hand I cannot find any connection even if my hardware and my drivers are OK ( I saw this in the periferical application).
I don't know if my explanation are enough ...

No prob's.

The router is the device you use to connect to the internet. This is what your connecting to when you make a search for your wireless connections. How are you connected at the moment? Are you using a modem instead of a router?

Right ok, so how do you know that the university has wireless facilities, and how do you know that your even in a wireless hotspot area? You'll need to double check this with the university, or check with a colleage to make sure you can access a wireless connection from your room from his/her laptop.
