Hi,

I spent last night re-installing a student of mine's laptop with XP SP2. The laptop is a Toshiba Equium A100, model number PSAAQE-OOPOOKAV, with an Intel 3945ABG wireless card.

The laptop is now refusing to connect to any wireless network, only getting as far as "Acquiring network address". I've tried this on a couple of wireless networks. The interesting thing is that when I tried it on a network which I didn't know the password for, it still did the same thing - it doesn't even seem to be trying to using the password.

Anyone got any ideas?

OK, I've sorted this one myself.

It turned out I was typing in the wrong password for the network. XP wasn't telling me this, it just kept hanging as I described in my first post. When I fixed the IP address XP said it was connected, but there was no internet access; it was also saying it was connected when I deliberately typed in the wrong password.

I then double-checked the password, found it was wrong ans changed it - and the laptop connected perfectly. A rather irritating little problem...
