Default Ping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey guys
i have a belkin hub with virgin as the internet provider. I play games like swat 4 and battlefield and keep getting kicked for a high ping. Does anyone know how i can reduce my ping on the wireless? I dont think i can get a modem as my dads work so im stuck with this. Its just the ping that is the issue!
Thanks Craig

Unfortunately your ping will only be as good as the signal strength, try to position yourself where you get the maximum bar strength and the fastest connection speed link. Wireless isn't ideal with gaming, I suffered through a year of it and high pings before throwing a fit and running a 100 foot ethernet cord from the router downstairs to my room and chucking the wireless adapter out the window

I Have an ethernet cable plugged in and the ping is still high. The router is supposed to be good and the signal stength is most of the time full. I dont understand it? Should it be faster with an ethernet plugged in?
Thanks Craig

Make sure you're not running any file sharing apps, such as bittorrent or limewire. When uploading files it will make your ping increase to a very high number.
