Default Router Set up probs

Hi,

I managed to get hold of a wireless router for free and was trying to set it up ,however as it was a free-b i was limited with kit

I have a bt1800hg wireless router
I have all cables so i can connect either via usb and or Ethernet cable
The trouble is it did not come with any discs or instructions

I have connected it by usb and Ethernet and i have downloaded a single driver for usb connection

I am using Orange Broadband 2.2mbps

The power light is green (woohoo)
The local network light is green
However the broadband light is solid orange. I have looked online and it says that the solid orange means there is broadband detected however the bb connection isnt fully set up.

I saw a website that says i have to connect the router then go to either one one of these to setup www.gateway.2wire.net or 192.168.1.254 the trouble is i cant seem to get there

Do i need some kinda disc for this ( I heard something about home portal software) or am i doing something wrong

???
Any help muchly appreciated!

Matt

Hi Norris,

- Connect the router up via ethernet.
- Go to your web browser, and try either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

This will give you your router page. From there you can configure your logon settings for whatever ISP you are with.

Hi norris,

Are you connecting via ethernet?

Also instead of using www.gateway.2wire.net/

Please use just gateway.2wire.net in your address bar and see if that works

Hi 764

Currently i am using Ethernet cable but i have tried with usb too, still no luck?

Just tried that address no luck

Just to confirm what im doing ........

Router with power cable > Ethernet into back of PC > phone line from filter into router.
