I have a Linksys wireless router that I'm trying to get to work on a client's computer but it won't connect. So what I was trying to do was download the firmware and reload it again. But when I try to open the file from the Linksys page, it's saying can't open a .bin file so it asked me would I like to windows to search for a file to open it and nothing came up. So can you guys help me with this by giving me the file to download or whatever to get this going. It's a Linksys wireless-G WRT54G version 5. Thanks guys!

You have to download that file to the PC you are on
log onto the router itself
there should be data on the router for his ISP-- they all have their own servers/ settings etc --WRITE THEM DOWN.
Then-- in the routers "control panel" there is usually an "update firmware" tool follow the prompts. DO NOT interrupt the update process once it starts.

How do I log onto the router? I use to know but forgot.

Hi

LinkSys Wireless-G WRT54G Log-In Screen:

Open Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and enter the Router’s default IP address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address field. Then press Enter.The below log-in screen will appear.

Leave the User name field blank. Type the default password admin. Then click OK.
Note: You can set a new password from the Administration tab’s Management screen.

That is true for almost all routers-- some are 192.168.1.2 instead-- it's all there in that manual-- just save a copy of the PDF...

It won't do anything, it's telling me that Internet Explorer cannot display the page. And how can I connect to the router if it can't get on the internet in the first place with it. But I tried it both ways, with the router conected and without, and it still doesn't work. What now??

Try it in mozilla Firefox (if you use it) you might also want to try 192.168.0.1 some routers Default to that.
