You'll need to set any security settings you find to Disable first of all to make sure that your security settings are why you can't connect. Depending on the model of your NetGear router, your security settings can be found in Wireless Settings on the left. You will then see your Security Options to the right.

i've set the security options to disable, but my belkin adapter still isn't finding my router when it searches, any ideas?? thanks

hehehehe,

OK, I thought it was a bit strange that you could pick up your phone. Very few phones have wireless capability, and many more tend to have bluetooth. I think you may be getting bluetooth mixed up with wireless.

Your Belkin adaptor is bluetooth.
Your router is wireless. Some routers do have additional bluetooth capabilities, however this one doesn't.

This is what you need: WG111 - NETGEAR.com
