Our modem is our Virgin Media Set Top Box and to turn off the modem completely it would have to be unplugged so no connection would be going through the router at all would it? Either way I did as you asked and the modem light was off on the router and the internet light was still flashing just as it had been the whole time i've not been able to connect with any router. No Matter which router I connect the internet light always flashes and I get no connection and can never access any of the routers main pages. I have tried powering up the router and the modem when the computer isn't even on.

I also tried powering it up the way you said and still no difference.

The pc is configured to let the router give it an IP. My ISP is Dynamic.

In device manager my network card is listed under network adaptors and there is no red x or yellow exclamation point next to it.
so you have connected the modem to the WAN port on your router and powered both up (one after the other) and waited for the lights to settle?

I know this is frustrating PlasticLipgloss but please bare with me.Disconnect the modem from the WAN port on the router. If you would try a factory reset. To do this, find the little button on the back of the router by the power connection. Follow the instructions below exactly...

Restoring the Factory Defaults

Press and hold the “Reset” button for at least 10 seconds, then release it. The lights on the Router will momentarily flash. The Power/Ready light will begin to blink. When the Power/Ready light becomes solid again, the restore is complete.

Make sure the lights are all steady on the router. Connect the network card to the router using a new cat5 cable. This will ensure that you have a good connection. Faulty cables can be intemittent and look ok sometimes...Changing the cable to a new one just rules out the cable...

Now see if you can access the router (remember...don't hook up the modem yet...). If you can access the router then you can set the router back up using the setup software for your router. Just follow the instructions in the manual.

If this doesn't work then it is possible there is a software problem. Give it a whirl...Let us know.

Did that. No change how could it be a software problem if all routers still flash when the computer is turned off? I'm really confused.

Routers? PlasticLipgloss...You mean lights on the router? Now I'm a bit confused..*chuckles*

When I mentioned a software problem I was thinking about firewall software like Zone Alarm or Blackice. Sometime they will cause problems with routers.

What lights are blinking? The Power LED should be steady after a few seconds. If all the lights are blinking then the router is faulty. To test the router. disconnect all the cables and unplug the router. After 3 minutes restore just the power to the router. See what happens. Let me know please...

Only the Internet light is blinking and the only firewall I have is Windows Firewall which I tried disabling and that didn't help.

Wow, this has been dragging on a while...

Ok, please can you do the following;

1) Please confirm that this is your router:http://cache1-www.belkin.com/support...4_man_6-04.pdf
2) Click on Start > run > type in CMD and press enter. In the new (black) window, type in IPCONFIG /ALL and hit enter. Tell me your IPaddress, DNS and Gateway.
3) Tell me your ISP
