Default [Resolved] vista to XP networking

Hi, plese bare with me with this as i am new at trying to network things together so i might be doing something very basic wrong!
I have just built a new pc downstairs with windows vista ultimate as its OS. The old pc is now upstairs, it is runnung windows XP SP2. I am trying to get them linked together. I dont want anything fancy, just a folder i can add to on the downstairs pc (vista) and be able to access on the upstairs pc (XP) which would be mainly media files.
I have a wireless router, the lead is in the back of the downstairs vista computer and the upstairs xp pc has a wireless card in it. Both PC's are able to access the internet ok.
If you could explain how to do it in idiot terms i would be very much gratefull! Thanks

Microsoft has a built-in function called WORKGROUP.
I have a XP2 and a Vista Home Premium connected with way so I can tell you that it does work. You can even print from one computer to the printer connected to the other computer.

Suggest you first go to each computer and look up the Help file.
On for XP computer, lookup "share a folder on a network".
On the Vista computer, lookup "create a workgroup".
After digesting the information, if you still need help, reply to this posting and we can work out the rough spots.

Good Luck...
