Default [Resolved] Sending 20GB+ over wireless connection.

I need some advice and a solution.

Ok, at the moment i use this Family computer, and i bought a wireless router a long time ago for my PS2 (i just had enough money to go wireless, but i use my PS2 with a wired connection) recently i've had plans to build/make my own PC and since i know i can get atleast 4 out of 5 bars of decent connection upstairs in my room ( my room = 2nd story, Main comp = basement :P) and i was planing to send my folder ( a folder i have all my games, files...etc.) which is about 20-23Gb big (:P lol) and i was wondering how exactly do i seen everything through a wireless connection? Im a huge novice with wireless applications, but i do know a bit since i hooked up the wireless connection when i bought it. All i want is a solution to how exactly i can accomplish this, im ok with leaving my computer on all night to get this accomplished so no worries there.

Computer specs. (Just in case):
WinXP Home
512mb
2.53Ghz
wireless-G router (Netgear)

anything else, just ask.

Honestly, I would temporarily put the two affected computers on a wired network so the connections don't get dropped in the middle of the night... But yeah, otherwise, just start the transfer and let it run.

Loss of signal strength = loss of data= corrupted files.

I don't know what exact model of Linksys you have... so I don't know the transfer-rate... but that is a huge file. It would take a while on Broadband cable.

Wireless isn't the most reliable connection in the world but in this case is more convenient than moving computers around etc.

I'd personally recommend one of two things
  • Send multiple files, not one large archive that way if it pauses not only will there be minimal corruption but you will only have to re send that part not all of it.
  • Use something with resume support such as FTP so if something happenes you can resume the transfer

I would add a Zipfile utilty to that list of possibilities

7-Zip
