Default [Resolved] Sharing internet connection with wired hub?

I have a wired netgear hub, and 2 computers currently on it with their own respective wireless cards and a 3rd one that is hardwired by CAT 5 to this hub.

Is it possible for this 3rd computer to get internet access from one of the other computers via the hub using their wireless connections?

all are running XP, and have 1mg ram, 2mhz.

Technically, you could share an internet connection with just a hub, but it is a very complicated process.

Your best bet would just be to get a wireless router for 50 bucks or so and take all the headache out of it

Netgear extract...Hubs are outdated networking components which are capable of sharing a network connection with numerous computers/devices. The problem with hubs is their technology has absolutely no intelligence, so every single packet of information is sent to all destinations simultaneously. To make an analogy, it’s like having a mail room receive a piece of mail and rather than read the particular address, they make 8 copies of it and deliver it to all 8 possible offices at the exact same time, even if the deliverers have other mail that is more important to get out at the same time.

The Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) or the Proxy Service are the ways to go. XP is a bit limited with other choices. Check out the respective links.
