Default NTP (Network Time Protocol)

Hi, I'm not too sure if this is the right forum to be posting this in, so sorry in advance. I have the Actiontec M1424WR wireless router that I recieved when I order Verizon FiOS internet. My computer is a HP Pavilion DV5000. It is connected wirelessly through the router (right now via ethernet), along with 2 PC's concected by ehternet. I have Windows XP Media Center Edition, and when I double-click the clock, and select the internet time tab, I try to set the time to "Internet Time," because I need all of my clocks to be correct. I press the "update now" button, and have "time.windows.com" set as the server. I get an error message saying "an error occured while windows was synching with time.windows.com." I checked the settings in the control panel for my router, and it says NTP is enabled (im assuming for the router) and it will synchronize to time.windows.com every 24 hours. So the time on the router is presumably always correct, but I cannot not get my windows clock to be set to NTP. Can I enable this in my router? Thanks for the help. ---Tim

Hi Tim and welcome to the board,

Good news, there is nothing wrong with any of your equipment, the fault lies with
time.windows.com. It has been this way for some time now, I am hoping they fix this problem soon, as it has become quite annoying!!

Once again, welcome and enjoy!!

Hello, thank you so much, your help is greatly appreciated. However, I tried "time.nist.gov" as well, is this down too? Are there any other servers you know of? Once again, thank you for the help.

I just find it easier to manually set my time. I'm not sure if there are any others that are correct.
Hope this helped you out!
