Hi donnatil and welcome to PCHF ,

Look in the manual for your D Link to find out how to get into the router control panel and then check WEP Encryption is actually turned on at the router. Normally the PC will need to be connected to the router via wires (ethernet) for accessing the router control panel.

Chris

Hi donnatil,

Im not entirely sure on this then - i was just providing a quick check.

If a member of the tech team does not respond to this soon then i will PM one of them for you. If i forget - just post a message in here.

Chris

in the owners manual here (Wireless G ADSL Router Modem - DSL-G604T by D-Link) on page 53 it goes into the advanced security settings. Have you been through those? It walks you through how to set up a wep key, and how it's stored and how to choose which one you want to use to activate your router.

also make sure it's set to 'shared' so that only stations that have that key can use it.

Hope that helps, let us know if it doesn't.

Thanks,

v
