Default Wireless Connection Issues

I've been having this same problem for roughly a month now, and have tried many things and went to many forums, and nobody could seem to find a solution. I've had this connection for about a year, and it has worked fine up until this point.

Anyway, I'm using a Westell router, which game with my DSL modem. The modem is upstairs, and I'm using a TrendNet USB that connects me. I've checked that, and it is plugged in all the way. I have three icons that are related to the router--one is my WLAN, one is my Wireless Connection 3, and the other is Local Area Connection. Right now, my WLAN says "WLAN Connect to (SSID Key)". Every few minutes, it'll disconnect, and I will have to right click on my Wireless Connection 3 icon and click on "repair". It'll make it so my WLAN icon is back on, and that I can use the internet for a few minutes until it disconnects again. Also, I should note that right now my Wireless Connection 3 icon has a red "x" on it. It's pretty much always like that.

Strangely enough, whenever I turn on my computer, my Wireless Connection 3 icon is working just fine. After about 5-7 minutes, it'll disconnect.

Also, I play my Nintendo DS on Wi-Fi, which has to use the wireless router to connect, and the signal strength from up here is at it's strongest, with no interruptions what-so-ever. And I'm not sure if it'll matter any, but the problem all started when I changed the WEP key. However, it's not the first time it's been changed. I've changed the WEP key several times over the past year and nothing like this has happened.

I tried a few things to fix the problem as well. Just before I came upstairs about an hour ago, I had my modem/router unplugged for roughly 5-10 minutes, and then I plugged it back in. I tried changing from WEP to WPA, but that only made matters worse.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to PCHF

Did you look at the power saving setting for your wireless card yet?

Not yet, but I don't really know what that is. The only things that I know of that we use to connect is the router/modem downstairs on the "main" computer, the USB on the back of my PC, and the Westell configuration page. I don't think we have a wireless card, if we do, I don't know about it. :$
