Default [Answered] Wireless router

I have never tried any wireless stuff and so maybe this is a very simple question.
If I get a wireless router, does the pc it will be connected to have to have a wireless card as well or [as I suspect] is it not needed.
My pc has no wireless card but my laptop has, so am I right in thinking that all I need is a wireless router for ICS with the pc as host?

Using a DSL USB modem at present
XP Home.

Thanks.

Hi Scott!

If you buy a wireless router anything you wish to connect to the wireless router via means of wireless will need a wireless adapter/card. Some advanced motherboards have them built in and also a lot of laptops. If you do not have one on your PC you will need either a Wireless PCI Card or a USB Wireless Adapter/Dongle .

Also if buying a wireless card or usb adapter it is best to stick to the same manufacturer as your router for best performance.

Hope that helps,

Chris
