Hey Trazie,

Welcome to PCHF. I am so sorry about the delay in getting to your post. I assure you that we will work very hard to make sure that this does not happen again.

As it has been some days since your post, my first question needs to be if you have resolved this situation. Please let us know if you are still in need of help, and in the mean time, I will PM our resident wireless guru, and have him give you some suggestions.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

LGW

Hello trazie,

Welcome to PCHF.

It sounds like your still connected to the internet via your modem instead of via your router. Is your router now plugged into your phone line?

Same problem as above, it would be appreciated if this could be picked up from here.

Yes, I have my old modem unconnected etc. but I have the same problem, my router is connected to my phone line. The PC will work on the net and I have been all over to try sort this for weeks, I am really tired of it lol. I have tried speaking to Add-on who say speak to Tiscali who say to speak to Add-on and all of my friends and work friends are all baffled.

The setup is all correct as far as I know, the internet connection is set so it can be shared, I have all the auto detect settings I am supposed to and my Dell Laptop has a wireless card that seems to be working fine. I can connect to the GWAR3500 but with local or restricted access only. I believe I need Local and Internet access for it to say its working.

I have XP on my home PC and Vista Basic on my laptop. I have tried to use both the Vista connection tool and also "Network Magic" tool. Neither work. At all.

Please help!! It is really appreciated.

Dan

I do tech work for a isp in the US. I am A+and Net+ Certified. A couple of questions first. Did you setup the wireless security on that router? If you did, try disabeling it and see if you can connect. Also make sure the drivers are up to date for the wireless card. I have seen some wireless cards and Vista not play nice. You can see the network, it says you are connected, but nothing will ever happen. Quick rundown as it is 5 am here, update drivers, disable wireless security and see if you can connect. If you can we are making progress. If you can't call the wireless cards manufacturer and make sure that card is vista capable and the drivers support it.

All security is down and thats cool, but still no internet.

I can't do updates as my laptop wont even get on the internet now, even the old modem won't install correctly on it, I think this is Vista stopping it again...I have no idea what so ever.

I am really, really confused and annoyed with this all now lol. Should I just start over? I don't want to go back now I have it all setup on my PC really, eek.

Thanks for your help by the way.

Dan
