Hey all, first post here but hopefully you can help me in these times in need

Ive got 2 computers, 1 is downstairs plugged into the router via ethernet cable and my other pc is upstairs connected via wireless network card.

The pc downstairs is averaging 10meg download speed while my pc upstairs is only getting 512 (roughly).

Is there any way i can get 10 meg speed on my computer upstairs? Do i need a better wireless card?
Is it possible to connect both PC's to the router and get max speed that way?
Ive heard of hub/switch and that if i used one " the line would be in all the time " - which i dont understand.. if anyone could elaborate on it.

Do you get the slow download speed on the upstairs pc when the downstairs one is not connected?

yeah still get the same speed, ive put it down to being in an old house and proper walls so the signal aint going through properly, but i could be talking rubbish.

Came up with an idea to extend the router box upstairs to the upstairs PC, use the upstairs pc as the main then run downstairs pc as the wireless. Just gonna have to get up some floorboards upstairs n drill a hole in the ceiling. If anyone has any better ideas im all ears lol
