Default PSP wireless

Ok, so I got wireless in recently, and both my computers are connected to it. However, when I scan with my PSP, it picks up the signal fine, but when it gets to the point were it has to optain the IP address, it stays for awhile, then it says it's timed out.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Ryan,

Normally when an item times out when trying to aquire an ip address - it's caused by a DNS issue. However, I don't believe this is the case as it's a PSP.

Are you able to specify the ip address in the PSP?

Under the IP Settings you can enter the IP address manually, which I've done, but there is other things you have to enter in, it says 'Subnet Mask', 'Default Router', 'Primary DNS' and 'Secondary DNS' underneath 'IP Address'.

Even if I enter in the IP, it still tries to obtain it when connecting.

Try entering the rest of the details as well.

Subnet Mask will most likely be 255.255.255.0
To find your Primary DNS goto Start -> Run -> cmd and push OK.
In this window type in ipconfig /all and it will show you your Primary DNS - most likely the same IP address as your router.

Would the default router be the default gateway? Also, would the primary and secondary DNS be the same?

If so, I entered all that, now it's saying there's a connection problem the signal may be weak. But I'm right beside the HUB.

Yes and the Secondary DNS isn't necessary to type in - but you can just type in it.

Now that the PSP is aware of the fact that you have a connection and it has a DNS address....try removing all the settings and aquiring it all automatically...it may not time out now - i've used this trick a few times with PC's and it works well
