Default [Answered] Wierd WiFi ADSL Router Problem

I have a D-link wireless modem router DSL - G604T v 3.00
firmware upto date... setup using the basic wizard

don't have a network set up, just using it as wireless internet
I have an ACER Travel mate - good spec not very old am using a belkin wifi card. my dad is using an ACER aspire with on board wifi.

they both connect no problems to the wifi, but sometimes the broadband won't work heres the wierd bit. it will work on one but not the other pc!
the fault isn't pc specific.

is there something i'm missing? or if one pc is connected to the net both should be??

Hi ScORTED, welcome to pcHelpForum.

Lets get this straight. You have two laptop's (you and your dad). One of the laptops can connect intermittently? The other works perfectly?

No thats why the problem is strange, both are setup the same,

occasionally we will have internet connectivity on one but not the other, at first i thought it was a problem with my dads laptop, but it isn't! as its happened to me too.

OK, can you do some checks for me.

1, when this happens, what signal strength does the laptop show on the wireless icon in the system tray?

2, can you do the following on both laptops and show me the results.

- Go to Start, Run, and type in cmd
- From the prompt, type in ipconfig /all
- Right click on the command window, go to Edit, Select All
- Right click on the command window, go to Edit, Copy
- Paste the result back here

3, can you give me the make and model of your wireless router.

the signal strengh is good all over the house - i thought this may have been the issue at first.

the wifi always connects no problem. its the internet connectivity thats strange.

sometimes rebooting the router helps - sometimes it doesn't.
