Default [Resolved] the red x

recently had the harddrive replaced due to total failure...got all my programs reloaded and started getting parcial loads on web pages and boxes with a red x in them. I can sometimes get some pages to load up by using f5 several times, and some of the red x boxes to load by right clicking and hitting "show picture", but not always. Using SBC dsl with their 2wire 802.1 USB Wireless LAN card. SBC tech help was sure it must be a IE corruption.Ended up taking it in to repair shop where everything worked fine. Their only concern was that I have the SBC/Yahoo and AOL 9.0 programs both on the computer.( using windows 98)Since I didn't have a problem before, I have some doubt. The only thing the repair shop didn't have was my wireless router.Could there be some setting in the wireless that needs to be changed?..it does show that the connection is getting a full signal...and its self diagnose says everything passes.

Welcome to PCHF!

Have you tried using other browsers, such as Opera or Firefox? It might just be a problem with IE, so try one of those browsers out and see if that fixes the problem!

thanks....but no i haven't ...YET. was holding that as an option. Still believing it's the wireless since IE didn't give me a problem before.

Can you wire the PC directly up to the Router or Modem? If no change, then it's probably software. If the problem goes away, it might be due to the wireless.

sorry I haven't replied, but after my last post I lost the internet all together.
SBC sent out a tech yesterday who checked the incoming lines, (had the signal reduced), all the connections, etc., but I still couldn't connect.
he hooked up his laptop and everything was good. His suggestion was to get a new computer. My being bullheaded and desperate, I used my restoration disk and deleted everything and reloaded Windows and the Wireless program. As you have probably deduced.....I'M BACK ON!!
Apparently there was something in I.E. or Windows that was screwed up. The web pages are now loading fine...and no more x's.
Knock on Wood....
Thanks
