Installing sp2 would be a good idea , but i think you need to have atleast sp1 installed to install that update. Do you have sp1 on there already?

In youre startmenu , rightclick on "my computer" , select "properties" and it should show wich sp you have installed. (if any , ofcourse)

Hey Guys,

@Pulley, I hope that you followed the instructions for installing SP2, it really needs to be installed in a clean envirnonment, and it requires all previous critical updates to be installed first.

We look forward to hearing how it worked for you.

hi all,
managed to install sp2 alright. but i have found out that netgear adapter was getting an ip that was not even close to what my router was meant to give out. so i changed all the ip sub mask and dns server manually, and i can now connect. but i would like to have it auto detect, is there any thoughts on what might be giving me a wierd ip?.

thanks again for all the help here

You can manually set the IP range on the router so that there is absolutely no confusion when you set it to DHCP.Then when you also set the adapter to DCHP you should get an IP within that range only. Once it is set up you can also go thru this procedure:

1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar.
2. Click Run... on this menu.
3. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'cmd' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears. A command prompt window appears on the screen.
4. Type 'ipconfig' (without the quotes) to view the status of the computer's IP address(es).
5. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address.
6. Type 'ipconfig /renew' to obtain a new IP address (whether or not the computer is holding a current address).
