Default [Fixed] Can you print wirelessly

Well the simple answere is yes... Just get a $200 adapter, but I have a linksys usb wireless - g adapter. Is their a way to print over my local network to our main computer. I have a computer in my room and then we have our family computer on another level. Is their anyway that I can use just my standard network to print to our family computer? I would really like to know cause it would really help having 2 computers to be able to do homework on I am on windows xp if that helps, and so is the otherone that is the main host of our network.

Ok, i think i understand ur question. Simply go on the computer with the printer attached. go to start>>control Panel>>printers and faxes>>right click on the printer>>properties>>sharing tab>>select "share this printer". Then go on the other computers and go to start>>control Panel>>printers and faxes>>add a printer>>next>>"A network printer...">>make sure "browse..." is selected>>next>>find the printer and proceed. That should do it... sorry if that is not the information you were looking for

 Hey Guys,

Thanks for that Damien, that was a pretty good answer. However, not all printers are network compatible.

@Ello, can you please tell us what the printer downstairs is?

Can you share currently share files on the PCs? If so, Damien's instructions should work. Let us know how it turns out.

Looking forward to your reply.

 Hi Ello,

Yes, you will need to have the printer drivers on your computer. If you are using the same OS on both computers, the printer driver will install automatically from the other computer.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves a bit. First let's see if you can share files and folders. Can you open Network places, and see the other PC?

Look forward to your reply,

Great Job Ello!

Thanks for posting back, I am glad to hear this was an easy one, and that we could help.

Just an aside, as you mentioned that you wanted to use this printer for homework etc., remember that your printer is primarily a photo printer, and that you will probably get pretty slow results for text printing. Remember to leave yourself lots of time for the printer to print out documents.

Look forward to seeing you in the forums.
