Right just to let you all know, I have fixed this problem, it turned out to be a little matter of the ah-hem firewall ah-hem blocking the connection

usually you just enable gateway mode on the particular software, but it turns out that our version of kerio had just expired, so I took the risk of closing it and...... whoooosh .... the laptops connection sprang to life :computer_

so a very happy wife now that it's all sorted out..

thanks once again for all your help guys n gals

:cheesy: That's GREAT Spellbyte!!!

You know I had all kinds of problems with Kerio, ended up deleting it from my PC two weeks after installing it.

Give ZoneAlarm a try, I think it's a better firewall, easier to use, AND...
it's Free!!

Hopefully we'll see you around more, problems or no. Tell your wife to get an account as well, we girls are starting to make a presence here, LOL.

your never gonna believe this, but after getting it all sorted and a full version of Kerio installed, i moved the laptop over to the sofa, and then when i booted it back up again, the darn thing doesn't connect again. even when i turn the firewall off. all of the setting sare the same as far i know, i haven't changed any since boot up,

when you reafd this hengis, if that offer of skype help is still up for grabs then please contact me as soon as you are available, what makes it worse is that we achieved a connection and then a great big grin appeared on her face, and then none at all, talk about an anti-climax

BTW, the better half has already asked me to give her the address so she can sign up here, she is very keen to learn about comps.

:icon_scra Well that's darned irritating!

SB, if you have a Skype account, PM it to Hengis, he will contact you as soon as he is able to set up a time.

Good on your wife, tell her I look forward to meeting her.

Boy, I can't wait to find out what this turns out to be.

In the mean time, have you tried a repair of your connection in Control Panel?

yeah I can see that Hengis is online on skye, but I thought I would wait for him to pm me as I know it can be very busy running a web site :azn:

I have already tried to repair the connection, I also tried manually setting the IP's on both machines to within the same range but still nothing so I have set them back to be obtained automatically. this is definately getting very

Just waiting for Hengis to give me an extra helping hand, lord knows I need it
