i think i may have figured it out, i may be wrong but hear me out

i just had a look at the physical side of things, and noticed that the USB adaptor isn't going all the way into the USB port, now im no expert but surely if a COMPLETE connection is made between USB device and port is made then surely it cant all work, i dunno, prove me wrong please,

oh yeah i forgot to mention that it wont go in any further due to the physical restrictions of the laptop, and the dongle being to f****** wide

 Now spellbyte, did the server have to edit you, or did you edit you? Remeber we are a family site.

This is a regular USB adaptor correct? If so, can you go out and get an extension cable, one that will fit nicely into your port, and then attach the USB Hub, you may just have it there my friend.

Look forward to hearing how this one turns out.

dont worry i edited myself

now i thought about that and i used my USB hub and it picked it up straight away, and we are up and running. except now that it's all connected and both ends have picked up that there is a connection, the laptop still cant get online, i have checked that the IP address has been assigned to the laptop, and it has, but when i check the wireless adaptor on the desktop, and there is nothing there.

I have run the network setup wizard and have enabled ICS and even the dreaded firewall, which I have just this minute disabled. but still no luck, any suggestions,

I have a router connected to my main SIS 900 adaptor that delivers my cable connection to the desktop and the wireless PCI card and also my PS2.
the router is a mercury KOB BR100 if anyone knows how to configurew them properly for this kind of setup

I forgot to mention that when i installed the PCI wireless adaptor, XP created a network bridge between the wireless card and the firewire card,
GAWD knows why, but it did, do I need to have a bridge at all

do the wireless PCI card and the USB adaptor need to share the same IP address?
