Default Is there a solution to this problem ?

Hey,
I have a wireless card in my computer. Now it works fine i can access the internet play multiplayer games etc. Now my dad actually has the hub which my card gets the signal from. When my dad goes on a P2P program and downloads i cannot play games as my ping is huge sometimes around 500 !
This is extremely annoying as my dad is downloading quite often.
I was wondering is there a way for me to be able to play multiplayer games when my dad is on a p2p program?

Thanks

Afraid there is no way around the high ping / lag when those programs are running, this is because they tend to use an exceptionally high percentage of bandwidth.

Your only solution would be:
  1. Make your dad stop using P2P
  2. Get a second connection.

Trust me i have tried making him stop
And it's impossible to get another connection because my room is right at the top of a 3 floor house

depending on the program he uses you can check the settings. most have options to limit the amount of bandwith that the program will use, simply adjust them, does he also upload? if he has upload set on max it will make it slower, because when you are downloading, your computer uses the upload bandwith to inform the computer u are downloading from that u recieved it, so if upload is maxed, u will have problems, even if download is set lower.
