I am running XP SP2 on a 2.4G machine. When I used to select "Add a favorite" from the IE drop down menu, I used to get the "Add a Favorite" pop-up box instantaneously. For the past month, there is a noticeable hesitation of almost 15 seconds before the pop-up box is displayed. It doesn't matter whether or not other things are running. (And the C-Disk had recently been defragged). This happens on every "add a favorite". And it seems to be slowly getting longer as time progresses (went from instantaneous to perhaps 6-7 seconds to now close to 15 seconds). Once the pop-up box box is displayed, it saves the URL without delay.

I am also starting to see a delay (though not as long) when doing a shutdown. It is also slowly taking longer than it used to display the pop-up box for selecting "log off/ shutdown / restart". I don't know what is causing either one nor whether they are connected.

As you mention slowdown in your post, would you be willing to click the prework link in my signature, follow all instructions then post back the requested logs?

This way our security team can look at them and tell you if your slow response times could be due to a malware infection.
