Default Windows XP Installation problem

Hi forum, haveing some real trouble installing windows XP on my computer.

recently formated my hard drive and went to install a new copy of windows of XP.

However once i get to this section of the setup :

the computer freezes on that exact spot. i can't move the cursor etc.

when i hold the power button to turn the computer off i turn it back on again and the setup gets all the way to the exact same section again and freezes on the exact same spot.

i would appreciate any help given on this situation.

Thanks for reading and would love to hear some advice.

How long are you leaving it to find the devices?

Ok this sounds like either a dry spindle on the cdrom tracking rod or a scratched XP disk.

If the; "another XP disk" is installed on another system then no you can't.

Did you format using the new copy of XP that you mention?
