Angry random lagging and freezing. XP SP3 Home Edi

My computer used to be slow until I increased its RAM from 512 MB to 2GB. Then my computer became okay and its speed was reasonable. Later on it became a little slower and now it randomly lags or freezes for like 10 seconds and then it goes back normal. The computer speed is okay, it's just the freezing and lagging that I need to get rid of. I do not use a lot of RAM as the processes only take up 399M/2659M. I tried everything to fix this. I defragmented the disks, I cleaned out the registry, fixed it, I thought this might be a virus but I scanned with Kaspersky, Super Anti spyware, xoftspy, and mbam and nothing got found. I only have 31.6 GB left on my HD and the total GB is 72. So I guess I used most of the HD. I need help really bad. Thanks.

Hi

I cannot see your system's specs or your experience level, but it is very likely that this is what ails your system

You say you have scanned with
Kaspersky, Super Anti spyware, xoftspy, and mbam

how many of these are you running as that could be the problem every time you open a file each of these could be scanning it. Exit Super Anti spyware, xoftspy and see if that improves it

Kaspersky AV is the only AV on and running. I only open the rest if I need to. Only my volume control, Kaspersky AV, Sandboxie (not an AV, it opens internet-based programs so if a virus comes it goes in the box prevents the spyware from spreading.) is running.

Any solution? Thanks.
