We notice on XP Pro and with IE 6 (yes, we still prefer 6)
that when during the IE browser usage there is 'more' than just
one process of IEXPLORE.EXE running per the task mgr
and this gets in the way of every shut down/reboot...
We have to RUN THIS just before:
taskkill /F /IM iexplore.exe /T
..which clears all of these processes....
Any way to avoid having to DO this? - thanks!

Hi Geepers,
Well it would seem that internet explorer either isn't closing properly or it's creating more than one process in task manager each time you use it. Do you have all the other latest Microsoft updates? The reason IE6 is no longer supported is because it has security flaws that were fixed in later versions, well they find new vulnerabilities all the time which is why new patches are released all the time. Why your computer could be doing this could be a number of reasons. You've installed some updates and not others, you've installed a toolbar or add-on that's causing it, you've installed some software that's causing it, etc, etc. I recommend you either switch to another browser like Firefox or install all the latest Microsoft Service Packs and Updates and get IE8. Your problem could also be caused by malware, which would be highly likely considering you are still using IE6. If you think you may have malware, do the Prework in the link below and paste them into this thread and we'll move it to the HiJack This section. http://www.pchelpforum.com/new-hijac...e-posting.html Last edited by DIIRE; 4 Weeks Ago at 09:31 AM. |
