Windows XP/2000 - Problem With My External Hard Drive posted in the Operating Systems forums; ok, do you recognise any of these folders that are important and have been put there when I installed external drive?...

It doesn't matter Paul about what the software is mate.

These are backups by the look of it.

is it safe to delete those 3 folders if im gonna delete the program files folder?

Just dump the Program Files folder Paul, if you want a truly clean external drive then simply format it but bear in mind all your stuff will be gone from it.

ok just backing up important stuff to DVD/RW's. Using Nero BackItUp Essentials, hope its the right sort of program to use, soon find out LOL

So, back to my original post right at the top about external drive malfunctioning and not being recognised yesterday.... any idea why that happened and then today it was fine?

Always leave the drive plugged in and let it shut down when you turn the lappy off.
