Thanks for the help. I had looked there, but didn't see anything about bit. Didn't know how to interpret what I saw. I am 32 bit. Should I still download the fix?
Thanks.
Maureen

OK, I downloaded the fix and when I tried to install it, got a message that it only works on SP1 systems. Since I have SP3, it won't work. And according to the information on the web site, these problems should have been fixed in SP 2. Since I have SP 3, I don't know why I'm having these problems. Help!

My son, who moved to CA a couple of years ago, always kept my problems solved for me when he was here. After the move, he had very little time to help me and it is always hard to do it remotely. But I guess he felt sorry for me on this one, so he gave me some advice, which worked. Since I have two computers, I copied the missing file from one computer over to the other computer using a flash drive. It worked. I can now adjust my laptop settings using the Accessibility option in the Control Panel. So you can mark this one closed. Yeah!
My son did leave me with some parting advice: "Take up paper mache, paint by numbers or cross stitch - tech is not your friend." ![]() That's why I'm so glad all of you are here to help us non-techies. Thanks again for all the help. Maureen |

Could I open this thread up again?? I'm having so much trouble with my laptop and I think the answer lies in these missing win32 applications. I just now copied the SndVol32.exe from my desktop to my laptop in order to be able to adjust the volume on my laptop and get the volume control icon back down on the task bar. How can I be suddenly missing these files?
For clarification, I reinstalled windows on my desktop; now I'm having trouble with my laptop and the only kind of restores I've done on it have been to a previous date. Also, I keep losing my wireless connection on my laptop and end up having to use a RJ45 cable to hook directly to the router. I have a desktop (Dell), and laptop (CyberPower), and 2 printers/all in ones (HP and Canon). I have a LinkSys router, WRT54GS. My internet service (broadband) is hooked to my router, my router is hooked to my desktop, one all-in-one printer is hooked diredtly to the desktop and my laptop and the other printer are supposed to connect wirelessly. I called LinkSys when it happened before, and they were able to get the connection going again. But it only lasted a week or so and went down again today. How can I find out whether my router is going, or something inside my laptop? Of course, my laptop is 2 years old and has no warranty left. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Maureen |
