I have a weird situation. I have an older computer that had windows 2000 on it. It needed to be re-installed. Everything went well until it asked for the product key.I found that I do not have the correct one. I cannot go forward without the key.

I have a (legit) copy of windows xp that I want to put on instead- I know the code is good. The problem is that I can't stop 2000 from trying to install. How do I get it to quit the 2000 install so I can start fresh with the xp cd?

Keep in mind that the C drive has been wiped already.

Wait! I solved my own problem. I switched cds, unplugged the computer, closed the cd door and then restarted it. I then told it to boot from the cd. Could have sworn I tried that before.
